Pictorial of a Budget G10-D2 Clone of the Coordinal

Quick pictorial of that great little big knife. It’s a G10/steel version of the 3D machined titanium Coordinal. Obviously way cheaper, obviously not the same quality. The D2 blade is very sharp and very well ground.

The handle is made of blued steel liners (I suspect the blue comes from a varnish/paint and not from heat treatment) skeletonised with a “rounded triangles” pattern. It is possible to get the knife with golden colouring on these “liners”. On top of them a second layer, made of G10, with different patterns. The G10 is nicely contoured and in this case “jade” coloured (you can have it also in black and orange)

The blade is mounted on ball bearings, and it’s a real joy to deploy : very smooth action and a “just about perfect” detent. That blade is very well centred. A blue G10 backspacer comes in after the row of “standoffs”.

Overall, you get a light (118g), cheap, smooth, good looking piece with a great sharp blade. What’s not to like, even if the finish on the steel parts is sometimes a bit “raw” ?
